The scenery quickly transforms as urban streets give way to raw volcanic terrain shaped by centuries of tectonic and geothermal activity. En route, you’ll pass the picturesque Grótta lighthouse and glimpse Bessastaðir, the historic residence of Iceland’s president, set against a serene coastal backdrop.

The peninsula itself is a remarkable showcase of Iceland’s famous geology.
